Community Colleges by State

Community Colleges, also known as Junior Colleges, serve students in their local community, usually at a very affordable tuition level. Community Colleges provide job skills and training to students, and typically also offer transfer programs to state colleges and universities.

Explore these community college systems for all the opportunities they may offer you. Some are very good at promoting their veteran services programs, others are not. Do your research, and compare what you learn on your own with the excellent data we provide in our school finder.

Alabama

Statement

At ACCS, we are committed to providing broad access to quality, affordable education. We offer life-long learning opportunities through academic transfer programs, adult education and workforce development that can provide a strong foundation for bright futures. Dual enrollment classes allow high school students to earn college credit, saving money and time. Our non-credit programs help adults work toward their GEDs and train employees for high-skill, high-demand, high-wage careers.

More than half of Alabama’s freshmen and sophomores study at one of our colleges to earn an associate’s degree or transfer to an upper-level institution. Marion Military Institute, the oldest military junior college in the nation, provides opportunities for entry into the service academies of all branches of the armed forces and provides students with one of the few opportunities in the nation to achieve a second lieutenant’s commission after earning an associate’s degree.

National and international businesses continue to look to Alabama for growth opportunities and a highly-skilled workforce. Small businesses, the lifeblood of our state’s economy, count on us to provide skilled workers equipped with new and enhanced skill sets to meet their changing needs. Our workforce assessment and training initiatives through the Alabama Technology Network (ATN) provide valuable growth opportunities for both employees and employers.

Success has many faces. We are here to help you achieve your goals – whatever they may be. Whether you want to begin an academic journey leading to a degree, learn new skills, enhance existing ones to move your career forward, or simply explore a new hobby, success is yours to pursue. I invite you to visit any of our college campuses and let us become a partner in your future.”

We welcome everyone who desires an education or seeks to enhance their knowledge and skills. We are the primary doorway for freshmen and sophomores entering Colorado’s higher education. Our colleges are less concerned with where you’ve been than where you want to go and our fundamental goal is making certain that every student receives the individual attention he or she deserves. Our talented instructors are hired to teach and only to teach. Our classes are kept small to ensure that the student-teacher relationship remains vigorous and energetic.
