Pursuing a degree in Public Administration is a big decision. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation

55-65 scholarships of up to $30,000

To be eligible you must be a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student at an accredited university pursuing a career in government or public administration. You must also have a financial need. This is a highly competitive scholarship program, so it’s best to visit the website far in advance so you can start getting your application in order.

Byron Hanke Fellowship

Multiple Recipients $3,000 – $5,000

To qualify for this award, you must be a graduate student working on a research project related to the development, management, and governance of your community. The funds are awarded in three equal payments. According to the official site, “Projects may focus on applied or theoretical research and must be done in conjunction with the fellow’s graduate studies.”

The Women’s Overseas Service League

Multiple Recipients $500 – $1,000 renewable

This scholarship is for women who are committed to advancement in military or other public service careers and have completed 12 semester (or 18 quarter) hours of study in any institution of higher education with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) National Scholarship Program

Multiple Recipients $2,000 to $10,000

This scholarship is fund is for both graduate and undergraduate African American and other minority students who are currently enrolled full-time in a public administration or public management program. To qualify, you’re required to take at least nine credits per semester, attend an accredited U.S. institution, show outstanding leadership, and be able to demonstrate your success in public service, either as a volunteer or professional.

The Robert R. Robinson Scholarship – Michigan

$1,000

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an undergrad junior or senior or a graduate student enrolled in an accredited Michigan school who is aspiring to a  leadership role in your community.

In summary, there are many scholarships and grants available to help cover the costs of a public administration degree. You may also qualify for additional scholarships if you or a family member has been in the military which can further lower the out-of-pocket costs of your higher education pursuits.
