Rhode Island Housing Award Program for Housing Industry Students

Rhode Island Housing Award Program Michael Van Leessten Scholarships are offered on an annual basis for students pursuing education and training related to housing. Additional consideration will be given to veterans.

One award of $5,000 for a student pursuing a license in the construction trades through an apprenticeship or technical school program, or a credential in construction management.

One award of $5,000 for a student pursuing a degree in finance, economics, or public policy, with a focus on mortgage finance and housing markets.

Veterans whose prior service included construction projects or policy analysis, and who are currently seeking a career in the housing industry should consider applying.

RI Housing also seeks applicants from diverse backgrounds who are interested in developing professional experience in the housing policy field. The chosen research fellow will be required to:

Graduate students and undergraduate rising seniors from any relevant background (economics, planning, architecture, public policy, public administration, law, finance, etc.) are eligible to apply.  Grab your chance to apply for this scholarship that you can use and enroll in a military friendly college.

The fellowship is a full-time, 12-week summer program at $15 per hour located in Providence.

To apply, all applicants will need the following:

Applicants for the scholarship will need a description of the training program, list of required courses, and estimated fees per course or per academic term

Applicants for the fellowship program will need a transcript and writing sample of less than 500 words.

Michael Van Leesten was a Providence business leader, civil rights activist, and civil servant.
