With a veteran population of only about 1% of their students, is Marquette University a veteran-friendly institution? We think so, and here’s why.
About Marquette University
Marquette (MU) is a private, Catholic and Jesuit university located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with an undergraduate enrollment of 8,365 students. Offering a range of majors in 11 nationally & internationally recognized colleges and schools, Marquette is up-to-date on what its students need in 2016.
Marquette Supports Student Veterans
Specifically, Marquette’s current 107 military-connected students are supported through a multitude of academic and financial programs, and Wisconsin state veterans’ benefits. Marquette’s BAH Rate is $1,591, has a campus SVA chapter, associations for Veterans, a Veteran Upward Bound Program, and an Army ROTC program.
Acquiring credit through previous experiences and knowledge is also possible as Marquette accepts ACE Credit for military experience, follows ACE Standards for Credit, and awards credit for the CLEP and DSST exams.
With tuition currently at $34,640, the GI Bill may not cover all of the expenses to attend Marquette. Thankfully, military and veteran students at Marquette can also take advantage of the fact that the university is approved for TA funding, participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, and offers scholarships specifically for military personnel. (All of these programs are explained here.)
Marquette is also nationally recognized. Kiplinger ranks Marquette as one of the Best Values in Private Colleges in the country. US News & World report ranks it as one of the top National Universities. Need more convincing to take a look into Marquette?
Maybe service is your thing. At Marquette, students are committed to their community. So much so that Marquette University received the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the ninth time! This honor is given to schools that show exemplary commitment to service in their community and also see meaningful outcomes.
“Our goal is to graduate students who are transformed by their education and who will transform the world in which they live — who will, in a phrase, become women and men for and with others.”
