Why 2024 is a Great Time to Recruit Student Veterans

College and university student recruitment challenges continue to grow and evolve post-pandemic. With a declining eligible pool of traditional students, where does an institution decide where to focus their attention and devote marketing resources?

Institutions have begun shifting their attention to more niche demographic populations: international, transfer, adult, & military.

The one demographic, that is (in most cases) fully-funded by the federal government, is the military. Through the VA’s GI Bill® and the DoD’s Tuition Assistance programs, military-connected men and women can enroll in a two- or four-year program and potentially fund all of their tuition and housing.

Deciding to go back to school can be even more attractive for military-connected men and women during a recession – particularly considering job market volatility and the fact that housing can be fully paid for through BAH/ MHA. If you’re located in a higher cost-of-living area of the country, you may be even more attractive to prospective students.

In a recent study of our military members, more than 80% of students said their monthly housing allowance rate is a key factor in their higher ed decision making.

If you’re looking to recruit military-connected students, but have struggled to find a reliable resource to deliver you all the necessary pieces to create an effective strategy, CollegeRecon has been doing exactly that for nearly a decade.

CollegeRecon has worked with more than 200 colleges and universities across the country to build military branding and veteran enrollment. Interested in learning more? Reach out and schedule an introductory meeting to see if you have an opportunity for growth.
