About Best Buy
Best Buy is an American electronics retailer. In 1966, Richard M. Schulze and his business partner started Sound of Music, an electronics store specializing in high-fidelity stereos in St. Paul, MN.
In 1969, the company had three stores, and Schulze bought out his business partner. There were nine stores throughout Minnesota in 1978, and the company was renamed Best Buy in 1983. It expanded to include home appliances and VCRs.
Best Buy has evolved over the years and now operates more than 1,000 locations across all 50 U.S. states, Washington, DC, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. They offer special deals for students.
