Scholarships for Active Air Force and Veterans

There are thousands of scholarships open to veterans seeking higher education. With such a large pool of people competing, it can be beneficial to look for specific scholarships that only a select group can apply to. Something active duty service members can do – and in some cases, their family members, too – is to look out for branch-specific scholarships. Here, we’re going to dive into scholarships that are open only to Air Force personnel – either at military friendly colleges or other institutions.

First, we can’t neglect mentioning Tuition Assistance (TA). While there are a few standard regulations for TA across all services ($250 per semester hour, with a yearly cap), each branch has different rules governing TA. The basic usage limits for the Air Force are:

  • Maximum of $4,500 per year
  • Up to 124 semester hours toward an undergraduate degree
  • Up to 42 semester hours toward a graduate degree

Any airmen considering utilizing their TA should always reach out to their education center for counseling assistance and a personalized plan.
