If you are majoring in civil engineering or a similar major, you are going to want to find ways to help pay for school. Luckily, there are plenty of scholarships out there. Here is a list of scholarships for civil engineering majors.

Palantir Women in Technology Scholarship

Multiple recipients, $7,000

The Details: This scholarship is to celebrate and support women who are beginning careers in technology and to help encourage women to pursue computer science, engineering, and technical studies, and to become leaders in these fields. The winners will receive grants of $7,000 and will be invited to a virtual developmental workshop. In order to apply, students must be full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in an accredited US, Canadian, or Mexican college or university. Students must also be a freshman, sophomore, or junior, who are majoring in or plan to major in STEM and identify as a woman.

Robert B.B. and Josephine N. Moorman Scholarship

Multiple Recipients, Varies

The Details: This scholarship was founded as a memorial to Robert B.B. Moorman who was a civil engineering professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in Brooklyn, NY. The scholarship is open to undergraduate students that are pursuing a degree in civil engineering or a civil engineering-related field. It would need to be used for sophomore, junior, or senior tuition expenses, and fees. They must also be enrolled as an undergraduate in an ABET-accredited program in civil engineering or a related field and must be an ABET member in good standing.

Lawrence W. and Francis W. Cox Scholarship

One Recipient, Varies

The Details: This scholarship is a memorial to Francis W. Cox and his father, Lawrence W. Cox. Students must be an undergraduate who would use the award for their sophomore, junior, or senior year tuition expenses, and fees. They must also be enrolled as an undergraduate in an ABET-accredited program in civil engineering or a related field and must be an ABET member in good standing.

Eugene C. Figg, Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship

One Recipient, Varies

The Details: This scholarship is through the Figg Engineering Group, as a memorial to Eugene C. Figg, Jr. F. ASCE. The award will go to one undergraduate civil engineering student for junior or senior year.  They must also be enrolled as a junior or senior undergraduate in an ABET-accredited program in civil engineering or a related field and must be an ABET member in good standing.

John Lenard Civil Engineering Scholarship

Multiple Recipients, Varies

The Details: This scholarship by John Lenard, P.E. F. ASCE, is to encourage students to further their civil engineering education with a focus on water supply or environmental engineering. The scholarship is for students to use on their sophomore, junior, or senior year tuition. They must also be enrolled as an undergraduate in an ABET-accredited program in civil engineering or a related field and must be an ABET member in good standing.

SWR Foundation Student Scholarships

Multiple Recipients, $1,000-$5,000

The Details: These scholarships are for any student of an accredited college, university, community college, or trade school. The maximum amount given out is $5,000 and most are $1,000 or $2,000. The scholarship is to assist and encourage qualified students to further or continue their interest in the construction industry, specifically the sealant, waterproofing, and restoration industry as a pending or continued career. Students must be full-time.

The Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) Program

Multiple Recipients, $1,000-$5,000

The Details: These grants provide undergraduate and graduate students up to $1,000 to students from most areas of sciences and engineering. Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision-related research. Students can use the money for travel to and from a research site or for the purchase of non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.

The Armando J. de Moya Scholarship

One Recipient, $5,000

The Details: The de Moya Foundation provides a yearly scholarship to a University of Florida student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering who needs financial assistance to succeed in preparing for competitive employment. The scholarship is in honor of Armando J. de Moya.

The David C. Lizarraga Fellowship

Varies, Varies

The Details: This scholarship is funded by Toyota. Priority is given to those with degrees in business and engineering. Other majors will be considered. Students need to be first-generation college students, be enrolled full-time in a graduate program, and demonstrate financial need. California applicants will need to be permanent residents of an underserved community within certain counties.

The Edison International STEM Scholarship

Multiple Recipients,  Varies, $50,000 for all award winners

The Details: This scholarship is for students who want to be makers of tomorrow. 30 high school seniors will be awarded a total of $50,000 to help them follow their dreams in STEM and empower them to change the world. Students do need to show financial need and be planning to major in a STEM field. Eligible STEM majors are computer and information systems, engineering, engineering technology, management information systems, mathematics, natural resources, and conservation and physical sciences. Students must live in Southern California Edison’s service territory.

Richard L. Brooks Memorial Scholarship

Multiple Recipients,  $2,500

The Details: This scholarship is an essay contest that was developed to assist students with the rising cost of a college education. The scholarship is for full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited college or university in North America who are also studying architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, material science, or a related field. There will be two scholarships awarded at $2,500 each.

Y.C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship

Multiple Recipients, Varies

The Details: This scholarship is to help foster interest in structural engineering and to encourage students to further their civil engineering education. It is given to no more than two undergraduate civil engineering students who can use the scholarship to pay for their sophomore, junior, or senior-year tuition expenses, and fees. They must also be enrolled as an undergraduate in an ABET-accredited program in civil engineering or a related field and must be an ABET member in good standing.

The amount of the award varies.
